Eco-labelled clothing
Conventional cotton plantations and textile production imply major stress on the environment. Contributory factors include primarily the large amounts of insecticides used in cotton cultivation, water consumption for artificial irrigation and the utilization and emission of chemicals. Consequently, RNB RETAIL AND BRANDS is proud to be able to offer environmentally alternatives.
In the autumn of 2007, the first eco-labeled clothing within RNB RETAIL AND BRANDS arrived when JC’s Crocker brand launched jeans and tops marked with the Nordic eco-label, Swan. The Swan signifies that the entire product chain is controlled, from the ecological cultivation of the cotton throughout the entire preparation to the finished product.
Polarn O. Pyret also launched a Swan labelled knitted collection. The collection included a number of products for adults and children. We have now developed this futher and today our complete assortment of our basic, striped collection is Swan labelled. The Swan labels provide basic guarantees that the cotton is organic and the textile was manufactured according to strict environmental requirements. The chemicals used, emission and water consumption are examples of these requirements.
About Swan labeling
The Swan label makes it easy for the customer to make a conscious environmental choice. When you choose Swan-labeled clothing, as a customer, you know that the raw material is ecologically cultivated and the preparation of the garment was implemented under conditions that are controlled based on the environment. All chemicals and colors that are used are examined and approved; emissions of water and air must be controlled and limited. The garment shall also comply with specific quality demands and may not contain residues of substances that are harmful to health and the environment.
The Swan label represents a guarantee throughout the entire chain, from cotton cultivation to the finished garment. Accordingly, RNB has chosen the Swan for the organic collections within JC and Polarn o. Pyret.
