Quality work within RNB RETAIL AND BRANDS

Polarn O. Pyret and JC have a joint quality department in which four textile engineers with different textile backgrounds work. The quality department also works with RNB RETAIL AND BRANDS’ environmental manager on issues relating to chemicals and the environment.

Goals for our quality work

• To quality-assure our products from an environmental and health perspective is a self-evident and prioritized issue for RNB.
• To improve our materials so that they fulfill the visions for the various concepts with respect to quality.
• To take social responsibility for the manner in which we work with our suppliers.

How do we live up to these goals?

Tests of quality and safety

Regular quality, safety and chemicals testing is performed in the quality department’s laboratory, as well as by independent laboratories in our producing countries. These tests help us to maintain high quality and provide assurance that our clothes do not contain any traces whatsoever of hazardous or banned chemicals. From a quality standpoint, testing includes whether or not garments bleed, shrink, become twisted, etc. Our functional clothing is subjected to rough treatment that includes durability and waterproof testing to meet our high standards.

Working at the forefront

To always remain at the forefront in our quality work, the quality department is active in several development projects relating to safety and the environment. In this manner, we can ensure compliance with the laws and regulations that apply for our products and which are constantly changing and being improved. To ensure that all personnel are correctly informed about our products, the quality department also assists in distributing information to store employees.

Production control

RNB RETAIL AND BRANDS’ quality work includes communicating with suppliers and placing the correct requirements on them based on the quality manuals that are used. Since RNB does not own the production units, this work is important for achieving the best possible partnerships with suppliers that develop our quality products. We also employ a large number of Quality Controllers (QC) who conduct inspections on site in the production units to ensure that our products meet the standards to which we aspire. In China and Turkey, this work is performed via our production offices in those countries.
